1. Analyze why you think there have always been gangs throughout history.

3. Imagine that you were a member of the Curtis family. What role would you take in the family? How would your presence change the dynamics in the family?

4. Critique this novel. Evaluate how well written you think the book is. What are the flaws?

5. Predict what might have happened after this novel ended. What if the effect of Johnny and Dally's absence on the gang? do the Socs and Greasers ever become friends?

6. Create a screenplay for one of the chapters in the novel.

7. Write a different final chapter to this novel.

8. Define 'foreshadowing', 'theme', 'imagery', 'symbolism' and 'mood'. Then evaluate how the author used these devices in this novel.

9.  Identify the motives for the negative actions of Johnny, Darry and Dally.

10.  Create an assessment for the novel The Outsiders. Make sure your questions cover all of the major elements we talked about in class (such as characters, theme, setting, imagery, foreshadowing and mood).
 
11.  Create a character analysis for one of your favorite characters in the novel. Make sure you discuss their actions, dialogue, physical traits, how others view them, etc.
